The chronicles of a Florida middle-school teacher who has had all he can take.
(Or video cameras prevent violence--unless it's caught on tape)

Here are two more school-related issues from today's local paper.

First is the fact that students who receive 5 or more discipline referrals have their names given to the local SRO (school resource officer, or police officer), and a panel is concerned about the offenders' civil rights--not the teachers', as usual.

Second is a follow-up about the student I've been talking about, who was beaten up on a school bus while a video camera captured the incident. The school system's superintendent now insists that video cameras should be put on all school buses in order to *prevent* the kind of violence that a video camera actually captured on tape. More great double-speak from our school administrators!

Good question. Either way, I don't think the camera intimidated the bullies very much.

Amazing that such irony is lost on one who should be educating children to see such irony.

This Superintendent wins this week's Clueless Award.
